Today wasn’t that bad of a day..honestly, it just had it’s moments. I woke up about 15 minutes earlier than normally, so that was my first switch up of the day. I did my typical morning routine and right before I took a shower, I decided to work out for 10 minutes. Subconsciously I knew it was Day 5 of the Challenge and that meant switch up the routine, but at 5:50 in the morning I’m not thinking about that, I am just trying to get my slipper socks on deal with the bright bathroom light I’m about to turn on that’s going to wake me right up. But once I did the workout, I felt so energized. I’m glad I listened to my body this morning.
Throughout my work day was the most stressful of it all. My day is extremely exhausted. I would’ve typically let that take over the way the rest of my night would go. I definitely was cranky when I first got home, short with my fiancé’. I took some deep breaths and told myself to relax, I’m home, I can make the most of the rest of the day. And thats what I did. We made some dinner together and got ready to meet my mom to go hiking. We ended up going to my favorite place around us.
Typically we do the same walk around the whole park, but this time was different. As we walked up the road near this beautiful historical house and fields surrounding us, my mom says lets switch it up and keep walking down the road. (We’ve never walked down it before.) My fiancé and I are always up for new adventures so of course we went that way. When we got down to the bottom of the hill it loops around to another trail. As we started walking up it my mom spots an owl. We just stood there and watched this magical creature. A crow came swooping in as the annoying birds they are and he flew away, but up the trail we were following. As we were walking we kept search the tops of trees and spotted him again. As the crows came down again, he flew across the trail to the other side. Stood there a few moments trying to search for him, spotted him and watched him for a few more minutes. Owls are amazing. I am so happy we went that way, otherwise we would’ve missed out on that experience.
Sometimes you just gotta switch up what feels comfortable to you. You never know what you could experience if you just take a leap of faith and do what feels right in your soul. ❤
Day 5: Switch it up
- Tired of the same old daily routine? Switch it up, wake up at a different time. Take a different way to work.
Today’s task for the Journey to Self Love Challenge- was to create a vision board. A vision board is basically a space that you create using words, pictures, quotes, etc that you will see often that will help motivate you with whatever you’re trying to do.
I got home from work and heated up the rest of my leftovers from Meatless Monday meal (which was so yummy, and the recipe is on the previous blog) and opened up my laptop. I searched Pinterest for pictures and quotes that inspire me. Then I thought about some words I’m trying to work on more. Downloaded some cute new fonts and typed up the words and quotes.
Putting the vision board together was the best part. Made a cup of chamomile tea, grabbed the scissors & tape and got to work. Hung up my Christmas lights in the shape of a rectangle to be my ‘board’. I hung up a feather because I always find feathers in the most unexpected moments when I need a sign. I hung up my dreamcatcher that I received from a treasure box at The Wild Woman Fest in 2016.
During this whole experience, I felt really good about myself. I realized that for the first time, I am actually taking the time out of everyday to do something for me. These tasks that are planned each day gets me so excited for every day to come. I love seeing this board on my side of the bedroom, a place that I go do everyday, so I will be reminded of all the things that inspire me ❤
Day 4: Create a Vision Board
• Create this in a sacred space where you’ll see it often.
• Don’t just focus on materialistic things you want. Be sure to
include how you want to feel.
• You can print or write out quotes, words, pictures, etc.
• Put up different objects that remind you of positive memories
or feelings. (You also can add to this as you go.)
• Have fun with this!
Heres the recipe of the dinner I tried!
Day 3: Meatless Monday
Going meatless once a week (or more!) can help reduce the risk of chronic conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes & obesity.
It gives your gut a break.
Helps reduce carbon footprint.
Keep this up through the challenge and beyond.
Day two on this journey, and to be honest I didn’t do as good as I’d hope to do. Today I was suppose to stay away from the phone- ALL DAY. I began this morning checking Instagram and Snapchat. No Facebook though…until my grandfather tagged me in a post from brunch- I looked at that quick and quickly got off. Didn’t go near the news feed. I am proud of that, usually I get distracted and will check.
It was amazing to spend some quality time with my family at brunch today. I did go on my phone then, but only to show them this challenge and showed my grandmother a few wedding venues. Again- no checking social media! I did however stay on my phone for another 30 minutes after that on the ride to this epic arcade game place..but again no social media, just wedding venues. Luckily, my fiancé reminded me of this day being a no phone day. After that I didn’t go on my phone until just about 5pm to find a recipe for tomorrow- Meatless Monday. It is now 10:20pm and I haven’t checked anything else. I’m still not even on my phone. I am using my laptop, strictly for WordPress and then off to bed! I promised myself I would share every day on here and how it went.
Today was such a fun day, I am so happy and feeling good. Usually at this time I am dreading waking up on a Monday morning and getting ready for work. This challenge has me feeling so excited for each day to come, to try something different and do something for myself, that is bettering my life and my health. Looking forward to trying a new meal and having no meat throughout the day, (I never realized how much meat I eat in a week, but everyday, twice a day, yikes!) Trying a new meal is always super fun too! It’s going to be a beautiful day full of sunshine and warmer weather than what I’ve been used to…it will finally feel like spring! As a preschool teacher, it’ll be nice to keep the kids out longer in the fresh air, we all need it.
Okay time to do some restorative yoga before bed.
Goodnight world, thanks for reading xoxo

Day 2: Stay away from the phone
Take a break from checking all social media platforms for the whole day. If you’re someone like me and check constantly throughout a typical day try to cut down to once or twice.
At the end of the day reflect, how do you feel? Was it hard to stay away?
“its not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself and to make your happiness a priority. its necessary.”
This quote is speaking to me. And it has been for the past couple months. From the beginning of this year, I have been doing a lot of inner soul searching. Figuring out what steps I need to take to learn and grow, to truly love myself. It hasn’t been easy, and I have been suffering from occasional mini panic attacks and anxiety. Within the past month I’ve been figuring out how to handle the way I’ve been feeling. I got Reiki 1 certified (healing through touch from an energy force- to help restore physical and emotional well-being of myself and others). I’ve started this blog, and I am sharing my thoughts, taking a chance and trusting in myself. I am going with the flow, taking each day as it comes and making the most of it. I am truly ready for my next step in this journey and so I have created a 30 day challenge to self love.
I am also sharing this challenge here for you to follow along. I am not charging anything for this, I just want to help myself and others to love and respect yourself. It will be down below to download but if you would like to take part in the challenge aspect and have a chance to win a handmade dreamcatcher, then please email me at email@example.com
All details and things you may need to know will be in the download.
Thank you! & I hope you join the challenge!
